Response Questions : medical testing & animal testing on cosmetics

Why do we use animals as Animal-Based Science? I think it must have its necessity. It's apparent that scientists don't want to hurt human beings, so they just experiment with drugs on animals. First, We have to believe some experiments are necessary, and they can't be substituted. Then, an appropriate animal based science doesn't cause intolerable pain on animals. Finally, if we do the suitable experiment carefully, people will work out the plan of animal based science and take care about animal's rights. They are all positive thoughts.
On the other hand, those experiments are always controversial issues. " Should animals have to be suffered for human? " " Will killing animals be a bad habit to make us more brutal? " " Are there any solutions to replace animal science? " Because those researchers have been trained to regard animals as tools, they take animal's pain for granted and they even don't feel guilty. However, there is no doubt that the animal science brings us a lot of benefits.

In my opinion, those cosmetics company want to save their cost to be the least, so they must use some inhuman experiments to produce their cosmetics. Of course, it's not a good idea at all. I know that, but in the meanwhile, we should think about how we can do to reduce those cosmetics. We can see so many companies which produce cosmetics with animal testing. Everyone has sympathy if they are human beings. We can't avoid this issue because we are customers who are also the murders.
Although using cosmetics is the necessary evil to modern people, I believe there are some companies do a successful model to exclude animal testing. Maybe other companies can ask those good companies how to do that. Well, sometimes it's a secret to those good companies. :P
I don't want to use those cosmetics with animal testing. Even if I don't want to be one of the animal killer, I can't afford the expensive cosmetics. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Nevertheless, I do agree with protecting animal rights. If I have abundant money, I will buy non animal testing cosmetics.

Roald Dahl , one of the world's most beloved children's authors, but he also had a very successful career writing short stories for adults.After establishing himself as a writer for adults, Roald Dahl began writing children's stories in 1960 while living in England with his family. His first two novels, James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, are now considered classics and both have been made into blockbuster films. Recently, I saw one of his books, James and the Giant Peach. I think it's amazing that he can describe a child's fear so vivid. He not only uses different adjectives to put child's fear into a real situation, but also makes us feel like one of the role in this story. I wish I can do some good works as well as he does.

Today is my mom's birthday. I took advantage of the anniversary of SOGO department store and I bought her an underwear. She was very happy that she got a new one then. My mother have few desires, and she usually buy us many things. She totally don't care about herself. I think she works so hard to our family, so we also repay her our appreciation. Therefore, my brother and I decided to buy a practical thing to her. Mother plays the most important role in my life and I will do my best to make her happy. Oh...my eyes..>"<

Yesterday I went to KTV with my classmates. They said we could know each other from this meeting. OK. I agreed with them. This is my first time to go to KTV to pay my bill. Because everytime there is someone who can pay the bill for me. Ha...When I saw the total, I was so surprised that singing in the KTV is too expensive. I can't believe my eyes. I deserve it. Because we went to KTV in the midnight about 12 pm., I felt tired. But I think if I go to KTV but I don't sing many songs which wastes time and money, the only thing I can do is to sing a lot of songs. We went back to school about 7 am. Wow. It is really an unforgettable experience. However, it's good to know each other, but my eyes started feeling uncomfortable. I believe next time I won't go to KTV anymore. It's too tired!

It hurts!!!

Today once again, my knees were hurt because I must lift my partner on my shoulder. She is not heavy but I'm very tired. I can't stand it anymore. First time I succeeded in holding her, but we had no rest and continued to do the rehearsal. The terrible thing happened. When the music ended, we had to hold our partner on our shoulder about 5 seconds. Due to her weariness, she didn't jump at my shoulder, so I couldn't catch her. I wanted to prevent her from falling, so my knees fell down to the ground. Ouch!!! My knees were hurt so much! However, I insisted on finishing this dance. Finally, we succeeded it again.

Can't you stop it?!

Why are you everytime so hysteria? You can't do this to us so often. I hate your attitude even though you're the teacher. Can't you stop being temperamental? You're the teacher so you can't shout at us all the time. Perhaps you don't know how hard we do the rehearsal, but you're just furious. Please stop shouting at us in other classes. That is to say, you don't support our performance and the only thing you can do is to blame us in other classes. That's so embarrassed, you know? Don't regard us as your children. Please don't!!!

Alcoholic?!

I don't know what I can do. Am I an alcoholic? I like to drink some wine and I haven't drunk before. Actually, I want to try how the feeling is if I'm drunk. I've ever seen a girl who was drunk and she began to cry, shout and swear something. What an awful condition! I don't want to be the one just like her but I just try to test myself how much wine I can drink. Ha...Is it ridiculous? Maybe it's just the excuse I think. Well, that's just a joke. Drinking some wine can make me feel warm a lot in winter. If the temperature is low, I will try to drink something. I'm not an alcoholic

Whale Wars

In Asia, we can find there are too many people who want to eat shark's fin. Undoubtedly, it's all about the tradition. Especially in China, a shark's fin is one of the important Manchus and han Chinese complete meal. We can't deny it! Chinese people like to eat it and it includes abundant collagen to protect our joints. Of course, we can't regard the reason as a legal argument. When we saw the video which showed many brutal pictures, did it represent us as the warnings? Human beings destroy the ocean ecosystem constantly and we can imagine what our future will become. Please stop doing these stupid action! If people like to absorb nutrition, we have many choices, such as chicken skin, pig knuckle, and chicken's wing. We don't need to eat shark's fin at all.

I saw the news about killing sharks in Su-ao 2 weeks ago. This shark was pregnant then and it weighed 1930 kg. It's inhuman! How cruel those fishmen are! Did they have any sympathy? I think they just want to make money and they don't think about the living creature. Their behaviors are just like the Japanese, the barbarians! I totally agree with the group " Sea Shepherd." If we don't take any action, we just give them an inch and they'll take a yard. What a ironic issue Taiwan to ban whale shark fishing next year . Next year?! That is to say, people in Taiwan can continue fishing sharks and whales this year until the prohibition carries out? That's ridiculous! If I'm a judge, I will put those fishmen into the jail!!! It must be about ten years unless they would like to admit their faults and stop doing this.

In the meanwhile, we must praise these heroes for their unselfish devotion and sacrifice. They do a great job to protect environment from damage. Let's give them applause for their courage.

A public servant...No way...

Next year I will take the exam to enter the official department but I also want to do my best in the graduation performance. What should I do? One side is about my future but another one is my short destination. I could be careless in the performance but I can't do the wrong chioce to my classmates. There is no doubt that I choose the performance, so I can't prepare my big exam. What a pity! I hope I can get another chance to make my future bright...

Wow...What a vivid "Anita"

Today as usual, we had a rehearsal. It was about the "rape" and our heroine "Anita" showed the excellent interpretation. At first, she began to fit in being "Anita." Then, she started to shout at other characters and cried. Why did she play so vivid? I want to be the one just like her and I try to pretend that I'm "Pepe." Although some classmates said that I succeed in playing like a man, I think it's not enough. When I saw her efforts in the performance, I felt sorry about my clumsy action. Our performance is about 25 days left. Go~~~West Side Story~~~

I'm Pepe...

In the West Side Story, I'm the Bernado's unimportant followers. But the point is this character is a "man". What can I do to be a man? At first, I can't do anything because my lines aren't many. I try my best to do my job but it doesn't work. Finally, I fit it to the man way gradually. I'm glad that I can do it better. And my classmate admires me that I can become a man. I feel very embarrased and I don't know I should be happy or sad...I think I should be happy because I really succeed in playing "Pepe". Now I must encourage other players to bacome a man. Ha~~~I'm proud of being a character of West Side Story^^

Mid term Exam!

Ha...I've already finished two courses and I feel this time I can get the good grades. Yesterday I was so nervous that I think I couldn't do it better. However, I think this time is the easiest one that I've ever done. In French musical play " Le Petit Prince", I was so surprised that the teacher gave me a high score. This is my lucky day. And I have the last test tomorrow, I hope it can be the same situation as today. I must study hard to get the prize!

I think it's too lenient. In my opinion, those animal owners who treat their pets bad, like burnig animals or pouring chemistry to their body. I can't imagine that why people are so cruel to do so. If they love their pets, why should they do such terrible action? I think government should put these owners into the jail and whatever they want to argue. I mean it's no excuse. It's just the owners' faults. I'm glad that the amendment establish these bans to decrease the amount of violators. I also worry about these rules will be enforced in the future. I know the government wants to convince people how compassionate the government is. It's quite a confused action which they want to show. I hope this rule can be done some day. My suggestions are: if the violators are caught by their cruelty to animals, the authorities can assign these people to clean the animals'

Its purpose is concerned about the welfare of animals in Taiwan. They try to raise awareness of the stray problem and education people about the responsibilities of pet ownership.
They rescue sick, injured, and young strays, rehabilitate them, vaccinate them, desex them, and try to find them permanent, caring homes.
In taiwan, some people still eat shark's fin . It is brutal of them to do that. We can't destroy the ecosystem, or it must influence the balance of ecospecies. Although we haven't seen the serious condition, many species will probably become extinct some day. No one can stop the huge impact of animal crisis if we are reckless of protecting animals. We can't let the species die out and it's time to raise the animal rights.

Make up my mind...

I want my dream to come true. I have many things to deal with. I'm so glad that I have a new dream. My parents support my decision and they give me a lot of chioces which make me feel relax. Because they think my ability can be proved on this way, they encourage me to reach the goal. I hope that I can do it better and I don't want to regret. Try everything if it's possible to achieve the purpose. I won't let the chance run away. I must do something quickly. I trust myself and it's time to get the point!

Unit 2 Questions about cheating

1. I'm still a student now, so if I were in their shoes, I wouldn't want to fail these courses. Why? It's obvious that students have the same misunderstanding because they feel they won't get caught cheating. In my opinion, as for this matter, we can't just rely on luck. As a student, we must think if taking efforts is worthless, and other people can get the point easier than us, we can't let them pass these courses. Shall we do the same mistakes as theirs? No way! It should influence our future as much as possible. We can earn the good grades by our honesty not cheating. When I was in the senior high school, I was an English assistant. One day, as usual, in our review class, we took the English quiz. I sat on the front of the blackboard and I found many students stood up and walked around in the class. They wanted to cheat openly! How dare they! Finally, I had no idea to solve this situation so that I just told the English teacher. I can't imagine why they were so shameless. Is the score so important than their pride?

2. Generally speaking, cheating on exams or class works in Taiwan have some punishments in the following.
First, if those cheating people are proved to cheating, they'll be flunked.
Second, if students steal anybody else assignment, it all depends on how much the students steal from others. Probably they will be expelled from school.
Finally, after being proved to cheating, some teachers will give those students an Zero on this exam. This is the most common punishment in Taiwan.
I think it's enough that some teachers will give students a chance to make up their faults. Those cheating on the exams' students even do the volunteer to help people do something. It's a useful way to teach them how to treat people well and learn to respect others' efforts on the exam. No pain, no gain. Students must understand it.

3. If I were a teacher, I think I would give them a chance. However, those people who haven't been caught on cheating still don't be afraid of getting caught. In order to stop them, I have two solutions. Above all, I will establish a " secret box " which students can put their complaints in it. Of course, these complaints include who cheats on the exam, when and how. If many people write the same name, I will give him or her a severe punishment. Then, I will put the pinhole camera into the classroom. For everyone, I couldn't help but make this decision. This is the worst solution that I've ever thought of. I believe that students won't do cheating on the exams forever!

What a coincidence!

Today I found a classmate whose birthday is the same as mine. Ha...Until now, I've found two people's birthday which is the same as mine! But I'm confused why they are all extrovert, I'm still a shy girl. Does anybody tell me the reasons? I wonder know why I can't become an independent person. Although it's not a big deal, I just want to have some marvelous characteristics. I understand there is no one that is good for nothing! No matter who you are, you must have some incredible abilities. I hope that I can be the winner some day.

Question about cheating

I think of students steal anyone else articles, I will give them some punishments in the following. First, I will ask them to cancel the article and rewrite it. Then, I want them to say sorry to the writer. Second, if they don't want to confess their mistakes, I think there is not way but to flunk them. Obviously, they don't have any progress in this class and they even copy other student's article. It's about the time to use the most severe way to keep them out of the school. Finally, if I find the students cheat on the class and they face their mistakes, I will make their grades turn them into Zero. Because cheating on the class is the truth, I must do the whole things to other students fairly.
OK, if they regret what they did before, I will give them a choice to fix their mistakes. I will sak them to do their best to write their tests next time, and of course, they must take the good grades in order to prove their efforts in this class.

What can I see? Is it just my imagination? Look! There is the light! Can we touch it? The birds are flying and flowers are smiling. Don't you know we are in the heaven? No one can answer it. What is happiness?

I don't know what it is good to me. The teacher said you could learn something from "it." I'm sorry that I don't think so. If we can unite to face this problem, probably we can overcome it. But I really can't feel their enthusiasm, I don't want to contribute myself into the "hell." What?! Yes, Hell!!! Because I can't see our future, even the happiness all disappear. No one can answer it and I don't explain why. We must combine all information to cut it short and we can't stay at the beginning. The only thing we can do is to try to change this bad situation. But how can it be, I want to ask "you." You're the leader and don't be so silly. OK? My happiness is stuck, so please remember we can't waste our time...on useless things.

Issue# 7 Liger & Tigon

Today I saw an interesting news - liger and tigon . I think tigers and lions are not the same species but biologist can mate a tiger with a lion or a lion with a tiger. What a miracle it is! Tigers are smaller than lions, so tigers usually can't fight with lions. Unexpectedly, they can breed another species. If the father is lion and mother is tiger, their child is liger. If the father is tiger and mother is lion, their child is tigon. The liger is more common than the tigon. The liger is bigger than tigon. In the modern world, our gene manipulation is growing rapidly. Next time, what kind of odd animals will the biologist produce? I don't know but I believe God won't be happy at all...

Anniversary!!!

Today my classmate and I went to SOGO department store and, of course, it was woman's paradise. Ha...I saw many people especially "woman" crowded into the SOGO. I was surprised but my classmate said there were much more people in the morning. Although the economy is in a slump, people in the SOGO have much money to buy a lot of things. We can't see the depression at all. Today's target was eiderdown coat because the winter is coming. I saw the DM which said it was only NT$1000. I was so excited and I decided to buy a new coat. Finally, my classmate bought more than NT$5000 but I didn't but anything. I think I can buy it next time. I can take my mom to go shopping together and then buy the new coat. I'm sure it's my payment.

Ouch!

My eyes were swollen but I don't know why it comes out. I felt very uncomfortable and my stomachache made me be tried of doing anything. Of course, the schedule was delayed but I didn't care. I just wanted to take a rest. Although they all went to school, I didn't feel sorry at all. That is because of my illness. When I heard of their rehearsal process, I wasn't surprised. Everytime I went to practice our performance, and I saw the same situation - Nothing special. Therefore, I'd better stay home and concentrate on my "business."

Always Busy...

This semester I feel my life is full of challenge, but I don't want to face it I guess. Never be a child. I want to tell myself that I'm an adult, so everything should be prepared by me. I can't say I'm busy, so I don't want to try. I know that but if my life becomes smooth, I think I can do it better. But the truth is not, there is no exception that people always worry about the future. I suggest we should be more practical and efficient. Why? Because we turn on the TV, we see a lot of people who don't have money and live in a terrible house. They can't choose their life to become richer or healthier and they just think death or living. Look at me! I'm busy because I don't want my future to be the same as them. Now as far as I'm concerned is "Money" and "Time", I don't care about any other thing. Only be busy, I can feel who I am.

Who am I?

I really don't know what the hell are you thinking about? If you have much more free time to say those fuxxing words, why don't you do all the things? Huh? Do you think I'm in your group, so I must sacrifice. OK, my answer is "No Way!" You know what I'm not rich as you, so I gotta do something for my family and my life. You needn't worry about your future but I need. How can you disturb my time and my right? You do this to me first, so I don't need to do anything about "it!" I can tell you now "I don't care." Punish me?! Come on. What do you think who you are? My parents? My lovers? Whatever...I won't let you change my life. In fact, I'm just a little player, and everytime I seem to change my situation. I'm tired of being a weak man. I dare you to fight with me. Anytime and any place don't make me kick your bum!

Assignment --- Plagiarism

1. What is the penalty for plagiarism at Stanford University?
The standard penalty for a first-time violation of the Honor Code is a one-quarter suspension and 40 hours of community service. If the student is in his/her final quarter of enrollment the standard practice is to convert the one-quarter suspension into a two-quarter delay in the conferral of the degree.

4. Read the following examples of plagiarism and the action that was taken because of it at one American university. Do you agree with the punishment in these cases? If yes, why. If not, explain why.
I totally agree with the punishment in these cases except for No.5. I think if a student wants to confess his or her fault that we have to give him or her a chance. Many students don’t want to face their behavior, and they usually tell a lie to protect themselves. That’s not a good idea if they commit plagiarism. At first, if they can acknowledge their fault, the punishment probably becomes not so severe.

Boring action

Ha...I'm not a kind person, so I don't want to pretend a good man. I know some people are too hyporitical to do something they don't like. Obviously, they just want to take people's notice and they don't care how to be a polite man. I could bear everything you do to me, but I want you to know if I'm not your friend, I won't let you do this to me. I believe I'm not a bad guy, so it misunderstands you all think I can donate everything and you don't repay me anything. I must claim that a hot face was greeted by a cold bum. That's the turth, isn't it? I don't want to let people think I'm a yes-man...It sounds a boring action I ever do. So stupid!

An Unfilial Guy!

I visited my grandma today and we saw grandma got order recently. That is all because of her grandson. He is my cousin and he has already been a father. But he is not a good man, he always plays the online games and he doesn't want to find a job. He has an awful wife who doesn't want to take care her children and her daughter is so skinny. My grandma can't stop them doing anything, so she just shouted at them for their behavior. This couple only care about money and computer games and they don't want to do some good to grandma. We can't say anything, but we hope grandma can expel them from house. She usually said if she can do it, she will follow our advices. Unfortunately, she has no power to overwhelm their unreasonable behavior. They also blame grandma to go to hell. How can they do this to her?! They have no place to go, so they only go grandma's house. Otherwise, they would become beggars. My grandma takes care not only my cousin but also her great grandson! How brave she is! I hope they can move away from the house and wherever they want to go. That's not my business!

My fault?!

Today my student's mom told me her child had a very big pressure in learning English. She employed me as her child's tutor, she thought I'm a good teacher to teach her naughty child. She was also sorry to me that she knew I was very patient to her child. Although this is a compliment to me, she still let her child give up his English. I think my student is spoiled by his mom, so his mom doesn't want to continue it. Probably, it's a good news to me because her child makes me mad all the time. Everytime when I see him, he just wants to play computer games and doesn't want to do homework. His mom doesn't care about his English, either. I was depressed that his English didn't progress. Someone told me there is no stupid student but a unprofessional teacher. When I heard it from that person, I was so angry. If she thinks I can't teach them well, how about her? Is this my fault?...
